We will bring a lactation space, a diaper-changing station, a play-yard, priority seating area, and a free art show and workshop led by parent artists. 

Bring your family to the big outdoor event and enjoy fun time without worry about a place for breastfeeding , pumping or diaper changing.

Making Onigiri rice ball workshop by Home Cooking of the World
The eyes of your mind open when experiencing the joy of making your own food and tasting unknown flavor from different cultures.
You can make a rice ball with a choice of ingredients!! I am preparing several different ingredients, including sweet and salty tuna, salty salmon flakes, Spam!, corn mayo!

Making Beeswax Wrap workshop by Yoko Yoko
Living with sustainable material -
Reusable beeswax wraps provide an eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrap.
Making beeswax fabric wrap is a rewarding project; not only is it a great way to use up scraps of old cotton fabric but also a way to end plastic pollution.
We can use recycled baby dress shirts and crib bed sheets to give them new life and preserve their memories. Wraps adhere to a cup, a bowl or can be used to wrap up a sandwich and left over food!

Our project is supportd by Citizens Comittee for NYC, Bronx Health Reach, UP-Stand, and New York Foundation for the Arts. We appprictae a volunteer group from Japan Culture Club of Bronx High School of Science.

Infirnity Block Party

We are happy to announce that we will be part of Infirnity Block Party 

on Saturday July 13, 

26^thstreet, between 9 and 10^thAvenue, Chelsea, New York.

We will set a free diaper changing table and information table for all families, and wearable belly sculpture for all youth and male.

Our collaborate organization, Home Cooking of the World will introduce and distribute Macha Healthy summer drink. Please come by the party!

The first tabling this 2019 season

We kicked the first tabling this 2019 season and Open Call for Artists at Neighborhood Bash Astoria.

It was a beautiful hot summer day. 

We shared a tent and tables with Home Cooking of the World.

This time we had a diaper-changing table, and explained our activity for supporting families, also other sister project, Ramp Project NYC. 

1 Stop Family Pop Up @Mini Market!

People enjoyed a beautiful autumn day at Socrates Park. 

 We set two tents. Left is the artist’s tent and right is the lactation tent. A play yard, diaper changing table, nuts free table, priority seats, and stroller parking were aside.

There were also diapers, changing sheets, wipes, some clothes, dirty bags, and sanitizer gels on the diaper-changing table. Those supplies are the things parents need to carry when they go out with a baby. This makes it difficult to parents to visit events especially outdoors. We want to make change on it.

The guest artist Gina invited people to join her WS. Not only kids but also many adults enjoyed process of making bags with beautiful color gel. 

There was a play yard, so parents keep their toddler safe and then could participate in the art WS or, take some extra materials and enjoy cratering your art works at a home!

1 Stop Family Pop Up @Boogie On The Boulevard!

Boogie On The Boulevard is one of the greatest street events in The Bronx!

There were 5,000 visitors during 2-6pm of the event.

We set three tents among other tents related to health, food and sports. Thanks Rachel!

3. Healthy Food WS and demonstration tent by Yuki Nagata

Beside the three tents, we also had an art installation by Hiromi Niizeki

This was Yuki’s explanation display about Japanese ingredients for easy and healthy cooking. There were handouts of recipe for cooking at home. 

Yuki showed, explained about garlic soy sauce and gave away sample food that she cooked at site for visitors to taste. There was a WS table people tried to make their own to bring home. Peeling skin of garlic was fun. “Look! I made this! Here is also a tasty sample.”

 This was Hiromi’s POKETTO, an interactive art installation. Many passersby participated in the art project.

She was interviewed to Bronx’s show!

Many visitors used our diaper-changing table. During a toddler was playing inside the Play Area, guardians could participate in our art activities and other events.

You see a shadow of mom who was breast-feeding inside the tent. We were very proud that we could provide private space for many moms.

　

These were Nuts Free table for kids.

Some guardians took a break with our priority seats.

We set our two tents among other tents of green market venders. Visitors enjoyed shopping, participating in art WS, our lactation space, and diaper-changing table.

Hiromi asks people to stop for a short time and think about what is important to them and why. Participants may respond to the question by drawing, writing and/or creating small pieces of art work to leave in the pockets. 

Niizeki Hiromi: Niizeki has exhibited her work both domestically and internationally at many prominent art institutions which include The National Museum of Art in Johannesburg, South Africa; Palo Alto Junior Museum, Palo Alto, CA; Memorial Art Gallery, The University of Rochester, Rochester, NY; Highways Performance and Arts, Los Angeles, CA; Cave, Brooklyn, NY; and La Foret Museum, Tokyo, Japan. Her mixed media installations, sculptural objects, and assemblages embody her interest in exploring the use of various types of existing and handmade papers. Her work is widely known and exists among a number of high profile collections. She has received critical acclaim by art critics such as Holland Cotter of The New York Times, Stuart Ferguson of the Wall Street Journal, and Jane Ingram Allen for Sculpture Magazine. She has participated in a number of Arts Residencies which include Clock Tower Gallery/PS1 Contemporary Art Center, N.Y. and Governors Island Studio Program at the Children's Museum of the Arts, New York. Both workshops will be flanked by our One Stop accommodations: A private and hygenic lactation space, a diaper changing and potette area, stroller parking, and a play space. We also provide smaller chairs for children to participate in workshops.

1 Stop Family Pop Up @ Lower West Side!

Hi! We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday at the Chelsea Block Party put on by Infirnity

on 26^thstreet, between 9 and 10^thAvenue. Thank you, Lisa!

Left is guest artist Yoko’s tent. Right is a lactation space and diaper changing table. A play yard is located between the tents.

Inside the lactation tent, there are chairs, stools, hand pumps, pumping bags, breast pads, a nursing Boppy pillow, ice and a cooler bag to store pumped milk, nipple cream, a nursing cover, and more! Women can feel welcome to nurse or pump in this private, sanitary, (quieter) location.

On the other side of the lactation space, there is a diaper changing table stocked with supplies (and clothes in case of accidents), as well as a potette for older children who are potty training.

This is our guest artist, Yoko! The man behind Yoko is her son, Daigo. In the workshop Yoko proposed and led, participants created reusable wraps made with cotton cloth and beeswax. These wraps are used as an eco-friendly alternative to zip lock bags, plastic wrap, or tinfoil to preserve and store food.

Participants picked a favorite cloth pattern.  Yoko then dipped it in melted beeswax.

After the wax cooled, participants shaved the wax to flatten the wraps. 

Daigo supported his mother, Yoko, explaining how participants could recreate the process at home.

Rica recruited passersbys to Yoko’s workshop, explaining what she was doing, how, and why.

Many families utilized the diaper-changing table, including moms, grandmothers, and fathers.

Another mom was changing a diaper outside; the two are kept separate for sanitary and privacy reasons, as we have men change diapers as well. A volunteer high school student was sitting outside to  monitor the tent and answer questions. 

Christine, who brought her four month old baby to the event, and a pregnant woman and her friend talk in front of the lactation tent.

Make Your Own Reusable Beeswax Wrap

Yoko Fukuda was born in Japan. She is a mother artist whose life was inspired and improved by art. She lives with her husband, son and daughter in NY since 1995. Her project promotes using sustainable items for daily life, such as this eco-friendly beeswax wrap.
